The New York Times reports that two American brothers of a fugitive who jumped bail in Iowa in 1994 and "has since been linked to violence and corruption in Mexico," have emerged as major fundraisers and donors to President Obama's reelection campaign.

The family of the fugitve, Mexican casino magnate Juan Jose Rojas Cardona, has also sought a pardon for Cardona so that he can return to the United States.

The Obama campaign said early Monday that it wasn't aware of Cardona, but later in the day said it was refunding the money raised by the family, which totaled more than $200,000.
