Ranking and Analysis
from Amy Walter and Quinn McCord of the Hotline Race Ranking: 6

This race has remained fairly calm over the past few months, but knowing the nature of Louisiana politics, it’s surely the calm before the storm. John Kennedy's fundraising in the first quarter was fairly solid, and how many GOP challengers can even claim that this cycle? Landrieu continues to hold an edge, but the two big demographic question marks remain. Specifically: How many black Democrats who left the state due to Hurricane Katrina have returned, and to what extent will black turnout increase due to Obama's presence on the ticket?
