2000 House Races
The final tally from the Nov. 7 House elections shows Republicans holding 221 seats, Democrats with 212 and independents accounting for the remaining two. The GOP retains the House majority.

- Only those races in which an incumbent was not re-elected are detailed below; the names of the newly elected are linked to their profiles.

Florida's 22nd District. After Election Day showed Republican incumbent Clay Shaw and Democratic state Rep. Elaine Bloom deadlocked at 50 percent each, an initial recount showed that Shaw had finished 586 votes ahead of Bloom. Bloom was denied requests for recounts and conceded defeat to Shaw on Nov. 18.
