"Gov. Janet Napolitano [D] swept to victory" Nov. 7, "defeating Republican rival Len Munsil by a nearly 2-1 ratio and becoming the first woman re-elected governor in Arizona" (Arizona Republic, 11/8/06). ..... Munsil won his bid for governor in a four-way primary to oppose Napolitano in November (Arizona Daily Star, 9/13/06). ..... "Key segments of the business community" are behind Napolitano, "creating a major challenge" for Republicans (Phoenix Business Journal, 3/3/06). ..... Munsil kick-started his race "by touting himself as a tax-cutting Republican and saying that Napolitano cares more about polls and press clippings than results" (Arizona Republic, 2/15/06).
