CAMPAIGN 2012

Chamber Planning $10M Ad Campaign—Report

February 9, 2012 | 7:49 a.m.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will announce on Thursday a $10 million campaign to support 20 mostly Republican congressional candidates, The Wall Street Journal reports. The powerful business lobby will run ads in 12 House and eight Senate races.

The campaign's targets include Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisc., and Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Miss. And the Senate races the Chamber is focused on align with those Republicans hope will yield the four seats needed to gain control of the Senate.

Utah's Rep. Jim Matheson is the sole Democrat supported by the Chamber because of his opposition to the health-care overhaul bill. The Chamber is expected to spend more this year than the $50 million it spent in 2010.
